Frequently Asked Questions

You choose 6 numbers from two groups: small numbers (1–10, with two tiles of each available) and large numbers (25, 50, 75, 100 — one of each). You may choose 0 to 4 large numbers, so all 6 can be small if you prefer.

The target is always a three-digit number, randomly generated between 100 and 999.

The rules require at least 3 vowels (A, E, I, O, U) and at least 4 consonants in your 9-letter selection.

Countdown accepts words from the Oxford English Dictionary with British spellings. American spellings, proper nouns, hyphenated words, and words requiring apostrophes are not accepted.
